Private jets: quick facts we love
-
Speed & range: Many business jets cruise around Mach 0.80; long-range types can link London–New York nonstop, while smaller light jets are ideal for UK/Europe hops.
-
Cabin layouts: Club seating, divans and a proper galley are common; larger aircraft add separate bedrooms or meeting spaces so time onboard actually counts.
-
Airports & FBOs: Private flights use dedicated terminals called FBOs (Fixed-Base Operators) for fast security, private lounges and direct ramp access. Think: land → lounge → car in minutes.
-
Scheduling: Flights are “on demand,” but still slot-controlled at busy airports. Good ground coordination keeps everything punctual — which is where a switched-on chauffeur helps.
-
Baggage: Hold volume varies wildly by aircraft; golf clubs and samples? Tell us early and we’ll match the right vehicle.
Pilots: training, licences and checks (why they’re so good at calm)
-
Licences: Commercial jet captains typically hold an ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence). First officers often hold a CPL/IR on the way to ATPL issue.
-
Type ratings: Each jet model requires a specific type rating with simulator training and line checks before carrying passengers.
-
Medical: Crew fly on Class 1 medicals, renewed regularly with eyesight, ECG and other checks.
-
Recurrent training: Simulator checks are typically every 6–12 months, including emergencies and low-visibility procedures.
-
Crew duty time: Strict limits govern maximum duty and minimum rest — one reason punctual ground movements matter so much.
-
Crew sizes: Larger jets are almost always two-pilot operations; some light jets are certified for single-pilot use (with extra training).
Ramp etiquette 101 (how we play our part)
-
We only go airside when invited and escorted by the handler.
-
No photos unless explicitly cleared by crew/handler (today’s were!).
-
Always park where told, keep doors clear, watch for fuel hoses and ground power.
-
Passenger first, picture second — service never gets in the way of safety.
E-Class saloon: the understated executive favourite
-
Comfort without fanfare: Quiet cabin, smooth ride, climate control set to your preference.
-
Space that surprises: Two large cases plus hand luggage in the boot; more? We scale up to MPV.
-
Right impression: Professional, low-key arrival at private terminals and city hotels.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you coordinate directly with the FBO/handling agent?
Yes. We confirm flight numbers, tail number (if provided), meeting point and airside/kerbside procedures.
What if the slot or arrival time changes?
We monitor updates with the handler and adjust our arrival or waiting plan so we’re ready at the door.
Do you support crew shuttles as well as passenger transfers?
Absolutely — captains and first officers are some of our favourite clients.
What if we have bulky kit or flight cases?
Tell us the dimensions and we’ll assign the best vehicle on our vehicles — from saloon to Luxury MPV.
Can you combine with hotel-to-airport-to-meeting moves?
Yes — that’s our bread and butter. See Business Travel or Contact Us to map the day.
Fact of the Day
The very first purpose-built business jet to enter widespread service was the Learjet 23 in the 1960s — small, fast and the blueprint for modern light jets. Today there are well over twenty thousand business jets worldwide, from compact four-seaters to globe-spanning flagships.
